Dr Karen Freilich

Karen has completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and a Bachelor of Medical Science at Monash University. As part of her BMedSci (Honours) degree, Karen researched the sociodemographic characteristics associated with contraceptive use and non-use in Australia. Karen has also conducted research into HIV and infectious diseases at the ICahn School of Medicine,

Karen was previously the Vice President of the Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Executive, and has been heavily involved in health professional mental health and health education. She has a keen interest in sexual health, and oversaw the development of The Nookie Project, an organisation delivering sexual health focused workshops to general practitioners and medical students.

Currently, Karen hosts the popular medical education podcast ‘Humerus Hacks’ and runs a costume blog on the side.
